Travel Advisory on COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak

Prepared in accordance with IATA News daily updates and based on travel advisories that we are aware of.

 

Published on 27th March 2020. Further updates will be provided every 24 hours.

 

You are advised to monitor and check official websites of World Health Organization, relevant authorities and local government agencies for the latest developments on COVID-19 coronavirus. Do adjust your travel plans based on the latest information provided.

 

Code share flight operations are also affected due to cancellation of partner airlines flights. You are advised to check with originating airport airline office to ensure that your travel is not affected prior to commencement of journey.

Bahrain - published 19.03.2020

1. Flight suspended effective 24th March 2020 till 31st March 2020.

CANADA - published on 21.03.2020

1. Passengers who have been outside of Canada or USA in the past 14 days, are not allowed to enter Canada.

  • This does not apply to nationals of Canada and their immediate family members.
  • This does not apply to permanent residents of Canada and their immediate family members.
  • This does not apply to diplomats.
  • This does not apply to airline crew.
  • This does not apply to the following passengers:
  • a. Person registered as an Indian under the Indian Act;

     

    b. Person authorized in writing by a consular officer of the government of Canada to come to Canada to reunite with immediate family members;

     

    c. Person who is exempt from the requirements to obtain a temporary resident visa under paragraph 190 (2)(a) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, and their immediate family members;

     

    d. Person who enters Canada at the invitation of the Minister of Health for the purpose of assisting in the COVID-19 response;

     

    e. Person who arrives by means of an aircraft operated by Canadian Forces or the Department of National Defence;

     

    f. Member of the Canadian Forces or a visiting force, as defined in section 2 of the Visiting Forces Act, and their immediate family members;

     

    g. Protected person, under section 95 (2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;

     

    h. French citizen who resides in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon who has not been outside Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon / Canada / U.S. in the last 14 days;

     

    i. Person or class of persons that the Chief Public Health Officer, appointed under subsection 6 (1) of the Public Health Agency of Canada Act, determines does not pose a risk of significant harm to public health or who will provide an essential service while in Canada;

     

    j. Person whom the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration or the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness determines their presence is in the national interest.

2. Passengers with Coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms are not allowed to travel to Canada until:

  • they have waited for a period of 14 days; or
  • they can present a medical certificate that confirms the patient is free from the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

3. Passengers are required to self-isolate for a period of 14 days upon arrival at their final destination in Canada.

CHINA (People's Rep.) - published 11.03.2020

1. Flights are suspended until further notice.

EGYPT - published 24.03.2020

1. Passengers are not allowed to enter Egypt until 31st March 2020

France - published 20.03.2020

1. Passengers arriving from a non-Schengen Member State are not allowed to enter France.
This does not apply to:

 
  • nationals of EEA Member States, Switzerland and passengers with a British passport with nationality “British Citizen", “British Overseas Territories Citizen" issued by Gibraltar, British Passports with a Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of Abode issued by the United Kingdom;
  • passengers with residence permit issued by France;
  • passengers with a residence permit issued by an EEA Member States, Switzerland or the United Kingdom on their way home;
  • healthcare professionals, health researchers related to Coronavirus (Covid-19).

2. Passenger Transiting via CDG is allowed provided passenger is allowed to enter destination country. Check TIMATIC rules prior to acceptance.

Germany – published 19.03.2020

1. Passengers arriving from a non-Schengen Member State are not allowed to enter Germany. This does not apply to:

  • nationals of European Economic Association (EEA) Member States, Switzerland and passengers with a British passport with nationality “British Citizen", “British Overseas Territories Citizen" issued by Gibraltar, British Passports with a Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of Abode issued by the United Kingdom;
  • passengers with long-term right of residence (residence permit or longer-term visa) in an EEA Member States, Switzerland or the United Kingdom;
  • family members of nationals of EEA Member States, Switzerland and of passengers with a British passport with nationality “British Citizen", “British Overseas Territories Citizen" issued by Gibraltar, British Passports with a Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of Abode issued by the United Kingdom
  • healthcare professionals, health researchers or elderly care professionals;
  • frontier workers;
  • transport personnel including crew engaged in transport of goods;
  • diplomats, staff of international organizations, military personnel and humanitarian workers in the exercise of their functions;
  • passengers traveling for emergency family reasons;
  • passengers in need of international protection or for other humanitarian reasons

2. Passengers must present a completed Public Health Passenger Locator Form upon arrival.

INDIA - published 27.03.2020

1. Flight suspended till 14th April 2020.

INDONESIA - published 24.03.2020

1. All visa exemptions and visa on arrival to foreign passengers are suspended till 20 April 2020

 

2. Passengers and airline crew who have been in France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom or Vatican City (Holy See) in the past 14 days are not allowed to enter or transit through Indonesia.

 
  • This does not apply to nationals of Indonesia.

3. Passengers with a Permanent Staying Permit (KITAP) or a Temporary Staying Permit (KITAS) are only allowed to enter Indonesia if they have a valid health certification issued by local health authorities in English stating they are fit for travel and free from respiratory disease. The certification must have been issued at latest 7 days prior to departure.

 

4. Passengers and airline crew who have been in China (People's Rep.) or Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province in Korea (Rep.) in the past 14 days are not allowed to enter or transit Indonesia.

 
  • This does not apply to nationals of Indonesia.
  • This does not apply to residents of Indonesia.
  • This does not apply to the following passengers:
  • a) passengers with a visa issued by Indonesian Embassy; or

     

    b) passengers with an Indonesian Permanent Residence Card; or

     

    c) Passengers with APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) coming from China (People's Rep.) if they can show valid Certificate of Health free from Covid-19 from their local health authorities. Health certificate must be in English; or

     

    d) Passengers with Diplomatic Residence Permit and Official Residence Permit from China (People's Rep.), Italy, Iran and Korea (Rep.) if they can show valid Certificate of Health free from Covid-19 from their local health authorities. The health certificate must be in English; or

     

    e) passengers with expired Diplomatic Residence Permit and Official Residence Permit from China (People's Rep.), Italy, Iran and Korea (Rep.) if they can show valid Diplomat ID card or valid Identity card as employee of Foreign Representative working in Indonesia which issue by Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They must also have valid Certificate of Health free from Covid-19 from their local health authorities. The health certificate must be in English.

IRAN - published 15.03.2020

1. Flights are suspended until further notice.

ITALY – published 05.03.2020

2. Flights are suspended until further notice.

JORDAN - published 17.03.2020

1. Flights are suspended until further notice.

KENYA - published 23.03.2020

1. Passengers are not allowed to enter Kenya.

 
  • This does not apply to nationals and residents of Kenya.

2. Passengers are not allowed to Transit / Transfer to KGL visa NBO.

 

Effective 25th March 2020 at 00:00 local time:

 

1. All International flights will be suspended

 

2. Passengers arriving in Kenya before 25th March 2020 will undergo a mandatory quarantine.

 

3. Nationals and residents of Kenya violating self – quarantine requirement will be forcefully quarantined for 14 days.

KUWAIT - published 15.03.2020

1. Flights are suspended until further notice.

MALAYSIA - published 19.03.2020

1. Passengers are not allowed to enter Malaysia.

 
  • This does not apply to nationals of Malaysia.
  • This does not apply to permanent residents of Malaysia.
  • This does not apply to passengers with a diplomatic passport.

2. Nationals and residents of Malaysia are required to be self-quarantined for 14 days.

 

3. Nationals of China (People's Rep.) with a passport issued in Hubei, Zhejiang or Jiangsu Province (China People's Rep.) are not allowed to enter Malaysia.

 
  • This does not apply to passengers who reside in Malaysia.

4. Passengers who have been in the Hubei, Zhejiang or Jiangsu Provinces (China People's Rep.) in the past 14 days are not allowed to enter Malaysia.

 
  • This does not apply to nationals of Malaysia and passengers who reside in Malaysia.

5. Passengers who have been in Hokkaido in Japan in the past 14 days are not allowed to transit and enter Malaysia.

 
  • This does not apply to nationals of Malaysia.
  • This does not apply to Malaysian permanent residents, Malaysian social pass holders and Malaysian student passes holders.

6. Malaysian Permanent Residents and Pass Holders (Long Term Social Visit Pass and Student Pass) who have been to Iran, Italy or Korea (Rep.) in the last 14 days must undergo health screening by the Ministry of Health (KKM).

 

7. Operating Airline Crew who are nationals of China (People's Rep.), Iran, Italy and Korea (Rep,) will be subject to health screening upon arrival.

 

8. Nationals of Iran, Italy and Korea (Rep.) are not allowed to enter.

 

9. Passengers who have been in Iran, Italy or Korea (Rep.) in the past 14 days are not allowed to enter Malaysia.

 
  • This does not apply to nationals of Malaysia.
  • This does not apply to Malaysian permanent residents, Malaysian social pass holders and Malaysian student passes holders.

MALDIVES - published 15.03.2020

1. Passengers and airline crew who have been in China (People's Rep.), Iran, Italy, Spain or in North Gyeongsang and South Gyeongsang Provinces in Korea (Rep.), Ile-de-France and Grand Est (regions of France) and Bavaria, North Rhine Westphalia and Baden-Wuerttemberg (regions of Germany) in the past 14 days are not allowed to enter or transit/transfer the Maldives.

  • This does not apply to nationals of Maldives and their spouses.

2. A completed "Health Declaration Card" and an "Immigration Arrival Card" must be presented upon arrival.

 

3. Passengers and airline crew who have been in Bangladesh in the past 14 days are not allowed to enter the Maldives.

  • This does not apply to nationals of Maldives and their spouses.

MOROCCO - published 23.03.2020

PAKISTAN – published 21.03.2020

1. Flights suspended from 21st March 2020.

PHILIPPINES - published 24.03.2020

1. Visa issuance to all foreign nationals is suspended with immediate effect

 

2. Visa-free privileges based on Visa Waiver Agreements, those under Executive Order408, s.1960, holders of Hong Kong and Macau SAR passports, Macau-Portuguese passports and British National Overseas passports are also suspended effective 22 March2020;

 

3. Foreign spouses and children of Filipinos are exempted from the above suspension; and

 

4. Foreign nationals with visas previously issued by Foreign Service Posts (FSPs) will not be allowed entry into the country starting 22 March 2020, except:

 
  • Accredited Foreign Government and International Organization officials and their dependents.
  • Foreign spouses and children of Filipino nationals whose visas will remain valid and will be honored when entering the country even after said date.

Effective 22 March 2020, only the following shall be allowed to enter the country:

 
  • Filipinos, their foreign spouse and children (with documentary proof)
  • Accredited foreign government and international organizations officials
  • Foreign airline crew members

Only the following shall be allowed to exit the country via any port of Luzon:

 
  • Foreign nationals
  • Permanent residents and student visa holders*
  • OFWs*
  • For China, returning OFWs only, except in Hubei Province and Wuhan City;
  • Except in North Gyeongsan, Cheongdo and Daegu, Iran and Italy.

QATAR - published 19.03.2020

1. Passengers are not allowed to enter Qatar.

  • This does not apply to nationals of Qatar.

RUSSIAN FED. - published 27.03.2020

Passengers are not allowed to enter the Russian Fed.

  • This does not apply to nationals of the Russian Fed.;
  • This does not apply to accredited or appointed employees of diplomatic missions, consular offices, international organizations located in Russian Fed. and their family members;
  • This does not apply to airline crew;
  • This does not apply to members of official delegations;
  • This does not apply to travelers with diplomatic, business or normal visas issued in connection with the death of a close relative, as well as visas issued by special decision of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
  • This does not apply to passengers from visa-free countries coming in connection with the death of a close relative, having copies of death certificate, as well as a document confirming family relations;
  • This does not apply to passengers who are family members (spouses, parents, kids, adoptive parents, adopted), guardians and trustees of citizens of the Russian Fed., subject to the presentation of a copy of a document confirming the relationship status;
  • This does not apply to passengers permanently residing in the Russian Fed., as well as transiting through airports without entering the Russian Fed.

SAUDI ARABIA – published 23.03.2020

SRI LANKA - published 24.03.2020

1. Passengers are not allowed to enter Sri Lanka until 31 March 2020.

SWITZERLAND– Published 26.03.2020

Passengers are not allowed to enter Switzerland.

  • This does not apply if arriving from Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia or Sweden.
  • This does not apply to nationals or residents of Switzerland or Liechtenstein
  • This does not apply to passenger with a cross-border commuter permit, with a C- visa issued by Switzerland for the purpose of "business meetings" as specialists in the field of health or "official visit" of great importance, with a D-Visa issued by Switzerland or who have an assurance of a residence permit.
  • This does not apply to passengers who are entitled to freedom of movement and have a professional reason for entering Switzerland and have a confirmation of registration.
  • This does not apply to passengers who are of great importance as specialists in the health sector.
  • Passengers can only land at Basel (BSL), Geneva (GVA) or Zurich (ZRH).

TANZANIA - published 23.03.2020

Effective 23rd March 2020 all international passengers shall be quarantined for 14 days period upon arrival into Tanzania as per the following

 

1. All Tanzania citizens and any other nationals holding a valid resident permit will have the option to either proceed to quarantine as designated by Government or to be served with stay home notice( self-quarantine) of which they will be required to remain in their place of residence at all times for 2 weeks period after arriving

 

2. All other nationals without valid resident permit and all international arriving nonresident passengers will be allowed to enter provided they proceed on quarantine as designated by the Government

 

3. All costs associated with quarantine shall be paid by the passenger and passengers must ensure that they have a prior booking at any of the government designated quarantine areas before commencement of travel.

 

4. Disembarked Pilots and cabin crew will be quarantined at the airlines designated hotel.

 

THAILAND - published 27.03.2020

Passengers are not allowed to enter Thailand.

 
  • This does not apply to nationals of Thailand.
  • This does not apply to airline crew with pre-existing schedules.
  • This does not apply to diplomats and their family members.
  • This does not apply to passengers with a work permit.
  • This does not apply to passengers with a waiver from PM or PIC of State of Emergency.

. Passengers must have a letter from the Embassy with the ‘fit-to-fly' health certificate to transit Thailand. The transit time must not be more than 24 hours.

 

Nationals of Thailand must have a letter from the Embassy with the ‘fit-to-fly' health certificate

TURKEY- published 21.03.2020

1. Effective 21st March all flights from/ to Algeria, Angola, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Canada, Chad, Colombia, Czechia, DJIBOUTI, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Equatorial Guinea, Finland, Guatemala, Hungary, India, Ivory Coast , Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo , Kuwait, Latvia, Lebanon, Mauritania ,Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Nepal, Panama, Niger, North Macedonia, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Sultanate of Oman, Taiwan, TRNC , Ukraine, Tunisia, Uzbekistan are prohibited at any Turkish aerodromes

 

Exception :

a. Restricted countries are allowed to operate only Ferry Flights for carrying their Citizens from Turkey

b. Turkish Operators may be granted permission for carrying Turkish Citizens from restricted countries in case of Repatriation

 

2. WY suspends flight operation to/from IST effective 25th Mar 2020.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES - published 24.03.2020

1. Passengers are not allowed to enter United Arab Emirates.

 
  • This does not apply to nationals United Arab Emirates.
  • This does not apply to passengers with a diplomatic passport.
  • This does not apply to family members (including father, mother, son, daughter, wife, husband, grandparents, grandchildren and domestic helpers) of nationals of United Arab Emirates. They must travel together. Contact the local immigration for prior approval before boarding.

2. Visas issued before 17 March 2020 by United Arab Emirates have been invalidated.

 

3. Nationals of the United Arab Emirates are allowed to enter with a national ID card if they left before 28 February 2020.

 

4. Based on the travel advisory restriction issued by United Arab Emirates Government, nationals of United Arab Emirates are not allowed to travel to Iran or Thailand.

 

5. Effective 24th March 2020 23:59 LT till 07th April 2020 23:59 all flights carrying passengers are not permitted from/to UAE until further notice
