Lithium Batteries & Power Banks
Travel Guidelines


Our Commitment to Your Safety

Your safety is our priority. To ensure a smooth and secure journey, please review the following guidelines for carrying lithium batteries and electronic devices onboard.

Power Banks 

  • Power banks (up to 100Wh): maximum 2 units per guest.
  • Must be carried in hand baggage only (not checked in).
  • Charging or using power banks during the flight is not permitted.
  • Keep them in your baggage under your seat or in the seat pocket, not in overhead bins.
  • Ensure terminals are insulated or protected against short circuits, secured to prevent accidental activation and stored safely.
  • Damaged, defective, or unlabeled power banks will not be accepted for carriage.


E-cigarettes & Vapes

  • Must be carried in hand baggage or on your person at all times.
  • Use or charging onboard are strictly prohibited.
  • We recommend carrying them in a protective case.
  • Not permitted as checked baggage.

 

Smart Bags

  • Bags with non-removable batteries are not allowed as checked baggage.
  • If the battery is removable, it must be removed and carried in the cabin, with terminals insulated or protected against short circuits, secured to prevent accidental activation, and stored safely during the flight.
  • Bags without batteries may be accepted as checked baggage once all batteries have been removed.
  • (up to 160Wh approx. 27,000–43,000mAh): maximum 1 unit with airline approval at the check-in counter.


Personal & Medical Electronic Devices

  • Devices such as phones and tablets may be charged using onboard aircraft power only.
  • Devices must remain in your sight while charging.
  • If a PED/PMED is intended to be checked in, the device must be placed in a protective case to prevent damage or accidental activation and must be completely switched off (not in sleep or hibernate mode).
  • PEDs and PMEDs are preferably carried in the cabin, where they remain under guest supervision.
  • PEDs may be charged during the flight using the aircraft charging units and must always remain under the guest supervision and visibility. (excluding loose batteries, power banks, e-cigarettes and vapes).
  • PEDs/PMEDs with non-spillable wet batteries must not exceed 12V.

 

Power Capacity Limits for PEDs & PMEDs:

  • Up to 100Wh (approx. 27,000mAh) – Allowed without airline approval (maximum 15 units per guest).
  • More than 100 to 160Wh (approx. 27,000–43,000mAh) – Allowed with airline approval at the check in counter (maximum 1 units per guest).
  • Above 160Wh (approx. 43,000mAh) – Not permitted (except for mobility aids).
     

Spare Batteries

  • Must be carried in hand baggage only (not checked in).
  • Charging or using spare batteries during the flight is not permitted.
  • Keep them under your seat or in the seat pocket, not in overhead bins.
  • Ensure terminals are insulated or protected against short circuits and that batteries are stored safely.
  • Devices must be secured to prevent accidental activation.
  • Damaged, defective, or unlabelled capacity spare batteries are not permitted.

 

Allowed limits per guest:

  • Spare batteries (up to 100Wh, approx. 27,000mAh): maximum 4 units

  • Spare batteries (up to 160Wh, approx. 27,000–43,000mAh): maximum 2 units with airline approval at the check-in counter

  • Spare batteries above 160Wh: not permitted.

  • High energy lithium batteries, large portable power banks, portable power stations, or battery powered generators are not permitted for carriage. This includes, but is not limited to, lithium battery powered devices marketed as portable power stations, solar generators, emergency backup power supplies, or similar energy storage systems that are not. 

 

Drones

  • Drones are permitted in the cabin if within cabin baggage size limits (56 × 36 × 23 cm).

  • Drone batteries must be removed and carried in the cabin.

  • All spare drone batteries must be:

    • Properly protected and not loose, carried in original packaging or placed in insulated battery pouches or protective case.

    • The use, operation, or charging of drones or drone batteries onboard the aircraft is prohibited at all times.

 

Guests must be prepared at the airport to:

  • Remove drone batteries for inspection.

  • Declare battery capacity.

  • Present batteries separately during security screening if requested.

  • Drone carriage regulations vary by country. Please check the relevant official government websites for the countries you are travelling to, through, or from to confirm current requirements.

 

Allowed limits per guest:

  • Up to 100 Wh (≈ up to 27,000 mAh): Permitted without airline approval. 
  • More than 100 Wh to 160 Wh (≈ 27,000–43,000 mAh): Permitted with prior airline approval at the check-in counter.
  • Above 160 Wh (≈ above 43,000 mAh): Not permitted.

 

Mobility Aids

  • Battery-powered mobility aids are accepted as checked baggage, and subject to mandatory physical checks at the check-in counter.
  • Only lithium Ion will be accepted as spare batteries.
  • Spare batteries number is limited per wheelchair, not per accompanying passenger.

 

Wheelchair battery power limits:

  • Wheelchair with two batteries (up to 160Wh each).

  • Wheelchair with one battery (up to 300Wh).

  • Wheelchair without battery capacity label will NOT be accepted.

 

Small Lithium‑Battery‑Powered Vehicles:

  • Small vehicles powered by lithium batteries are not permitted in either cabin or checked baggage, even if the batteries are removed.
  • This restriction applies regardless of the battery watt hour rating.
  • Smart vehicles and self-balancing personal transport devices are strictly prohibited for carriage in both cabin and checked baggage.

 

Examples include (but are not limited to):

  • Solowheels

  • Hoverboards

  • Balance wheels

  • Air wheels

  • Smart ride‑on devices

  • Mini‑Segways

  • E‑scooters
