At Oman Air, your safety is always our top priority. To comply with international safety standards and Dangerous Goods regulations, we have updated our policy for lithium batteries, power banks, smart bags, and e-cigarettes.

Please review the following guidelines carefully before you travel.

  • Power banks must be carried in hand luggage only.
  • Do not use or charge power banks during the flight or while onboard the aircraft.
  • Keep your power bank under your seat or in your seat pocket, not in the overhead compartment.
  • Loose batteries, including power banks, without visible power capacity labels will not be accepted
  • Damaged or defective batteries will not be accepted for carriage.
  • Power banks must be protected from short circuits (for example, by covering the terminals).
  • Up to 100 Wh (approx. 27,000 mAh) – Allowed without airline approval (maximum 4 units per guest).
  • Between 101–160 Wh (approx. 27,000–43,000 mAh) – Allowed with airline approval (maximum 2 units per guest).
  • Above 160 Wh (approx. 43,000 mAh) – Not permitted (except for mobility aids).
  • Smart bags with non-removable lithium batteries are not allowed as checked baggage.
  • Smart bags with removable batteries can be checked in only if the battery is removed before check-in.
  • Removed battery to be carried in the cabin during the flight and placed in the seat pocket or in the guest’s baggage under the seat.
  • Only allowed in hand baggage or kept with you during the flight (not in checked baggage).
  • Use or charging of e-cigarettes and vapes is strictly prohibited onboard.
  • Guests may charge personal electronic devices (such as phones or tablets) using aircraft charging ports.
  • Devices must always remain under your supervision and in sight while charging.
  • Loose batteries, power banks, e-cigarettes, and vapes must not be charged during the flight.
  • These devices are not permitted on board, whether in carry-on or checked baggage. Examples include: hoverboards, balance wheels, electric mini-scooters, mini-Segways, and similar devices.
