Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, achieved record passenger uplift during the months of June, July and August 2005. The highest figures were recorded in August where the airline carried a total of 122,764 passengers at an impressive seat factor of 80%. This was despite the fact that the total number of flights operated during the 3 months was 3407 compared to 3664 last year.
Mr. Ziad Al Haremi, Oman Air’s Acting Chief Executive Officer said “Oman Air has beaten previous records this summer and we are very pleased with the results. Embedded in our strategy is the objective of providing quality services. We are committed to ensuring that our standards of safety, reliability and punctuality are never compromised. I am pleased to report that our on time performance during the summer months was maintained at almost 80%.”
The airline’s performance has been growing steadily despite rising fuel prices and increased competition. The company recorded a profit last year and is hopeful of ending 2005 on a positive note.
“We value the patronage of our customers and have a few surprises planned for the forthcoming months, which will be unveiled very soon.” Mr. Al Haremi added.
