A recent article published by the East African magazine (Nation Media Group Ltd) Nairobi-Kenya on August 20, 2007 titled “Gulf Air, Oman Air planning to resume flights to Darussalam”, which was also made available globally and circulated on a number of internet sites, reporter MIKE MANDE has allegedly made statements attributed to Oman Air regarding the commencement of its operations to East Africa. As allegedly declared by the publication, Oman Air during this phase is assessing the circumstances on a daily basis and is satisfied that it should resume flights to Tanzania. Furthermore, the airline was waiting for the outcome of the final negotiations between the Governments of Oman and the friendly United Republic of Tanzania to resume commercial flights to Julius Nyerere International Airport with the first flight scheduled to operate soon.

In this regard, Oman Air’s Corporate Communications and Media Department stated that although the airline places, within its plans, resumption of operations to its destinations in East Africa, it categorically denies conducting any interview with the Reporter of the above-mentioned magazine nor have any statements been released in this context to him or others.  Oman Air affirms that the article is a fabrication by the Reporter and that the so-called statements with respect to this topic lack any validity.
