Oman Air and MABGOC Sign Official Partner Agreement Oman Air to fly Asian sporting delegations from across the continent to participate in the 2nd Asian Beach Games Muscat 2010

Oman Air has partnered with the Muscat Asian Beach Games Organising Committee (MABGOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) to bring sporting delegations to the Sultanate of Oman and promote the Games through its extensive network. As the Official Airline Partner, Oman Air will fly athletes, officials, media and volunteers of 44 different nationalities to Muscat from 30 destinations, giving them the opportunity to experience the airline's unparalleled service prior to taking part in the Games.

MABGOC and Oman Air Sign Official Partner Agreement

There are just 44 days remaining until the opening of the 2nd Asian Beach Games Muscat 2010, a celebration of sport and culture which runs from 8th-16th December 2010.

Following confirmation of the partnership, Philippe Georgiou, Chief Officer Corporate Affairs for Oman Air said:

"Oman Air will not only unite the athletic world, but also contribute to bridging cultures and fostering friendships between participating nations. The strategic partnership with MABGOC reiterates our firm belief in promoting inbound tourism to position the Sultanate as a unique destination for international events. With unprecedented exposure across an entire continent, the 2nd Asian Beach Games Muscat 2010 is a great catalyst to achieve such a goal.

"The traditional Omani values, the genuine hospitality of the people and the dynamic soul of the nation are all elements that embody the airline. This cultural fusion will crystallise the Omani experience as the athletes and delegations first come onboard our new and rapidly-expanding state-of-the-art fleet."

Mr Georgiou went on to say that the synergy between MABGOC and the national carrier of Oman is an example of what a unified vision can achieve.

Expressing his appreciation to Oman Air, Eng Habib Macki, Director General of MABGOC, said:

"The prestige of Oman Air, the national carrier of Oman and a company focused on maintaining the highest standards of performance and service, supports the endeavours Muscat 2010 is working to achieve. By hosting the Games, together we show Oman as a progressive, outward-looking and hospitable part of Asia. Along with the experience gained from the 2nd Asian Beach Games, we will position our country as an ideal host for future international events."

He added:

"By joining together with Oman Air, we show the support the entire Sultanate is putting behind staging these Games. A new level of excellence will be achieved, and the benchmark will be raised for the Asian Beach Games."

Reflecting the excitement of the highly anticipated Games, Oman Air will be branding a number of Airbus aircraft with the Games logo, and will screen the Muscat 2010 promotional video on the inflight entertainment system, harnessing the genuine Games spirit and celebrating sportsmanship, unity and co-operation.

.Under the slogan, 'Together We Shine', the 2nd Asian Beach Games Muscat 2010 is one of the major sporting events under the Olympic Council of Asia's umbrella. Taking place for nine days this December at venues located in Muscat, as well as at the one million square metre Al-Musannah Sports City, the Games will showcase competition in 14 beach sports.
