The Ministry of Manpower recently honoured Oman Air with a commemorative plaque in recognition of its Omanisation systematic efforts. The annual ceremony held at Al Bustan Palace Hotel, was under the auspices of H.E Lieutenant General Malik Sulaiman Al Maamari, Inspector General of Police and Customs.
Sheikh Ahmed Bin Himyar Al Nabhani, Chief Officer Support Services, received the award on behalf of Oman Air. He expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Manpower for assisting Oman Air on their Omanisation efforts, and said that this award is yet another acknowledgment by the Ministry of the Company's Omanisation policies.
Commenting on the company’s Omanisation policy, Al Nabhani says:
“Oman Air management has implemented many strategies to attract more qualified Omani cadres to join the company, furthermore created very attractive career plans to develop its staff and to update their knowledge, to cope with the changing business environment. Our management is proud to see Omani cadres holding very senior positions within the company’s various divisions and departments."
Oman Air has been an active front-runner in adopting Omanisation policies to be implemented in line with His Majesty's vision on empowering Omani youth. The national carrier of Oman ranks as one of the topmost companies that is driven by a determined Omanisation programme.
Sheikh Ahmed Bin Hammier Al Nabhanani added:
The Board of Directors at Oman Air has drawn ambitious plans to recruit more Omanis in 2010, as we moved ahead with our expansion plans. 2010 has started off well with the Omanisation measures put in place. As part of recruiting and honing the skills of our Omani employees, we worked on Omanising completely the grades 3 and 4 of our organization structure, and designed the necessary training courses in English language skills to the drivers, porters, and traffic assistants. As the National Carrier of Oman and with the support of the government, Oman Air has high plans in this regard that will fructify with the expansion plans.
He concluded saying:
“The Aviation industry offers some of the most challenging jobs, moreover the Omani cadres employed with Oman Air in many key positions have proven their mettle by rising up to these challenges”.
