Oman Air Appoints New General Manager Customer Services

 Oman Air has announced the appointment of Saleem Bin Amanullah Bin Abdul Hussain to the new role of General Manager Customer Services. He will be based at the airline’s headquarters in Muscat and will spearhead Oman Air’s drive for the highest quality in all direct customer contact.

At the three-day Food and Hotel Expo 2011, which has just been held at the Oman International Exhibition Centre in Muscat, a team of experts from Oman Air Catering’s pastry kitchen demonstrated advanced culinary skills which enthralled visitors.
The team, led by Oman Air’s head pastry chef, Harsha Ranasinghe, and supported by Fatma Al Riyami and Sampath Fernandez, tackled a range of spectacular food preparation methods, including chocolate molding and preparation, dessert plating, showpiece design and wedding cake structure techniques.

Oman Air Opens New Emergency Response Centre

 The soft opening of Oman Air’s new state-of-art “Emergency Response Center” (ERC) was held on 7th Dec. 2011.
This center is located at the Head Quarters 2 section of Oman Air Headquarters, and is equipped with top-notch emergency response functions related to airline emergency management.
The Senior Management meeting room at this center is geared with IT facility and visual aids, including interactive smart-board, projectors and televisions. A total of 17 Senior Management Member can be seated for briefings at the ERC room.

Oman Air Launches New Muscat to Zurich Service

Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, started its new service between Muscat and Zurich, in Switzerland on 2nd December 2011. Oman Air offers four flights a week between the two destinations.

Oman Air celebrated achieving an ISO Quality Standard certificate at a ceremony held at the Golden Tulip Hotel Seeb, Muscat, and was attended by high officials from Oman Air and Bureau Veritas. Present at the event was Mr. Shakeer Rasheed, Country Chief Executive Officer of Bureau Veritas in Dubai & Oman, who awarded the ISO Certificate to Oman Air’s Chief Corporate Affairs Philippe Georgiou on behalf of Oman Air. Oman Air has ordered Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines to power the six Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft it just ordered.
The airline is the first in the Middle East to select the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine, which last month powered the first 787 Dreamliner into service.
