Oman Air gains momentum on Omanisation
Under the guidance of His Majesty the Sultan’s directives to give Omani youth adequate opportunities focusing on recruitment and training, Oman Air has taken significant initiatives towards achieving this objective. The company has announced that it employed 88 Omani Cadre during the first quarter of 2006.
Mr. Ahmed Al Nabhani, Senior Manager Human Resources said, “The Company has approved a plan to motivate and enhance Omanisation during the year 2006 to maintain this momentum, as well as to maintain the distinguished achievement accomplished among other private sector companies in nationalising positions locally, and regionally. In fact, now we have an Omani work force of 2103 employees.”
He added, “Due to the constant growth in Oman, particularly in the economic and tourism sectors, the company continues to be pro-active and has created increased job opportunities for Omanis. Management is confident that given the opportunity and suitable training, aspiring young Omanis are capable of assuming responsible positions in the company. Furthermore, the company organises on-going and recurrent training for specialised positions as such as pilots and engineers.”
He concluded that the Human Resources department is currently in the process of finalising recruitment formalities for about 100 additional new Omani recruits, who are expected to join the company at the end of April 2006. Further opportunities will be revealed in the near future.
It is worth mentioning that Oman Air, equipped with its own training center, recently introduced IATA courses in addition to its other training programs and is considered amongst the pioneer companies in recruiting Omanis.
