OMAN AIR starts summer schedule

As of 01st May, 2006, Oman Air commences its summer schedule with an increase in the number of flights to various WY destinations in the Middle East.  Daily flights will be operated to Beirut, Bahrain and Doha, while Cairo and Kuwait will see an increase of 5 and 14 weekly flights, respectively. In an unprecedented achievement since operation in 1993, Oman Air exceeded, during the month of July 2005 the ceiling of 103,870 passengers (old record) in one month, by actually carrying 110,662 passengers. This is added to the other outstanding achievements in passenger traffic during the first seven months of 2005, where Oman Air operated 7534 flights and carried a total of 618,207 passengers, thus raising the seat factor to 76%.

Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, achieved record passenger uplift during the months of June, July and August 2005. The highest figures were recorded in August where the airline carried a total of 122,764 passengers at an impressive seat factor of 80%. This was despite the fact that the total number of flights operated during the 3 months was 3407 compared to 3664 last year.

Additional Jet Aircraft for Oman Air Fleet

The Oman Air Board of Directors at its 5th session for 2006 approved the recommendations of the Executive Management to add the 7th Boeing 737-800 to Oman Air fleet and the replacement of one 700 model with 800.  With this new aircraft Oman Air fleet will comprise of 5 Boeing 737-800 and 2 Boeing 737-700.
