World Airline Awards Commends Oman Air on Product Transformation

Oman Air has been named as a runner-up in the Most Improved Airline category of the 2010 World Airline Awards. The airline, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, was also commended on its product transformation.

This year's World Airline Awards were based on the views of 17.9 million air travellers, who were surveyed over a period of 10 months between July 2009 and April 2010. Over 200 airlines were considered under 11 headings and Oman Air took third place in its category.

Sindbad Frequent Flyers to Benefit From more Air Miles and Car Rental Discounts

Oman Air has announced a new partnership with Hertz, the world's largest general use car rental company, to provide members of its Sindbad Frequent Flyer Programme with access to special offers and best available rates in the airline's key destination markets.

From 1st June 2010, Sindbad members travelling with Oman Air can earn 500 Sindbad Miles for every eligible rental of a standard vehicle from the Hertz Collection and 1,000 Sindbad Miles for every eligible rental with the Hertz Prestige Collection, a dedicated fleet of superior performance vehicles, where specific models can be reserved.

 

Oman Air Commences Operations to Kuala Lumpur and Four Further Destinations

Peter HillMay 2010 will see Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, add five new destinations to its rapidly expanding network. The first is Kuala Lumpur, the colourful capital city of Malaysia, which will be inaugurated on the 1st May with four flights a week from Muscat.

This addition will mark Oman Air's 33rd destination and its second in the Far East, the other being Bangkok.

The other four destinations to be opened in May are Ras al-Khaimah, Al Ain, Islamabad and Lahore.

Oman Air Introduces Online Check-in

Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, has announced that customers can now check in for their flights using the internet. The interactive online check-in facility is available for travellers departing from the majority of Oman Air's international destinations, including London Heathrow.

The announcement is the latest step in the transformation of the airline, which has also seen the introduction of new aircraft, luxurious new seating in First, Business and Economy Classes, state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment, new menus and new uniforms. In addition, Oman Air has just become the first airline in the world to offer mobile phone and wi-fi connectivity onboard its Airbus A330 fleet.

Oman Air Celebrates Operations to Sri Lanka

Peter HillOman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, will be celebrating the launch of flights to its latest destination, the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo, at a special event in the city on February 26th. Four flights a week from Oman's capital city, Muscat, to Colombo were introduced in November last year.

His Excellency Eng Sultan Hamdoon Al Harthi, the President of the Muscat Municipality, will be the chief guest for the launch celebrations. He will be joined by a high-level delegation from Oman Air, led by Chief Executive Officer Peter Hill and including members of the airline's Senior Management team.

Oman Air Awarded Jane's Best Aircraft Debt Deal Of The Year 2009

Jane's Transport Finance 2009 has recognised Oman Air's European Export Credit Agency Financing deal for two A330-300 aircraft as the "Best Aircraft Debt Deal of the Year 2009 - Middle East". The financing for the above two aircraft was arranged by Oman Air through Citibank during September and November 2009. The award was given to Oman Air and Citibank at a recent ceremony.

Oman Air Commences Operations To MaldivesOman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, launched its new non-stop service between Muscat, capital of Oman, and the Maldives this week. The new flights to Malé will depart Muscat Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, returning the same day.

A high-level delegation from Oman Air, led by Chief Executive Officer Peter Hill and Chief Commercial Officer Barry Brown, along with other senior management team members, hosted the airline's launch celebrations in the Maldives.

Oman Air Launches Brand New Economy, Business and First Class Cabins Aboard New A330 - 300

Oman Air's brand new, much-anticipated First Class Mini Suite is launched this week, together with new Business and Economy class seats, menus and uniforms, when the airline's new three-class Airbus A330-300 is unveiled.

The three-class service will be introduced to a range of routes across Europe and Asia, including non-stop direct flights between Muscat and London Heathrow.

Oman Air Received Its First A330-200

Oman Air today moved a step closer to its fleet expansion target when the airline took delivery of its first Airbus A330-200. The aircraft was handed over at a ceremony held in Toulouse today, Tuesday September 15. The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki, Oman's Minister of National Economy, Deputy Chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council and Chairman of Oman Air, as well as Peter Hill, the airline's Chief Executive Officer.
