Oman Air Touches Down in Kathmandu

Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, received a warm welcome recently, as its first flight to the Himalayan state of Nepal touched down at Kathmandu.

On arrival, officials from the Nepal Tourism Bureau and the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal greeted passengers, who included Philippe Georgiou, Oman Air's Chief Officer Corporate Affairs.

Oman Air Annual Report Bags Two 2009 Global Vision AwardsOman Air's 2009 Annual Report has won Silver in the 2009 Vision Awards Annual Report Competition organised by the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP).

The report also won Bronze for the Most Improved Annual Report from the Asia-Pacific region. Each of the medals was won in the Transportation and Logistics category.

Oman Air Majan Breaks Round Britain and Ireland Speed Records

Oman Air Majan, the Arabian 100-class racing yacht sponsored by the national airline of the Sultanate of Oman, shattered two world records today, setting new times for both the solo and fully-crewed circumnavigation of Britain and Ireland.

The yacht, skippered by Sidney Gavignet, completed its 1,787 nautical mile anti-clockwise voyage in 4 days, 15 hours, 9 minutes and 47 seconds, beating fellow Frenchman Thomas Coville's previous, four-year-old record by a staggering 1 day, 15 hours, 30 minutes and 44 seconds*.

 

3i Infotech Implements Security Information Manager for Oman Air

3i Infotech Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, today announced implementation of Symantec's Security Information Manager (SSIM) by global technology solutions and services provider, 3i Infotech.

The implementation by 3i Infotech of SSIM in the Sultanate of Oman, has allowed Oman Air to significantly enhance the security of its IT systems.

Oman Air Adds Kathmandu to its Expanding Network

Peter Hill Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, has announced the launch of services between Muscat, the Omani capital, and Kathmandu, in Nepal, from 2nd September 2010.

Kathmandu is the 40th destination in the Oman Air network and will be operated with B737-700 aircraft, offering Business and Economy Class cabins.

Oman Air and Oman Sail have announced Oman Air's sponsorship of Oman Sail's Arabian 100 racing yacht Majan, which will take part in the prestigious Route du Rhum later this year.

Majan and her crew will also attend Cowes Week, on the Isle of Wight, the largest sailing regatta of it kind in the world. Cowes Week runs from 31st July to 7th August.

Oman Air's passengers, who currently enjoy direct flights from Muscat to Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok, will now be connected to six new destinations in Malaysia and Asia; Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Penang, Kuching, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Oman Air Celebrates Flights to Lahore and Islamabad

Oman Air, the national carrier of Oman, has celebrated its recently-launched flights to Lahore and Islamabad with gala events hosted by the management of Oman Air. In Islamabad, the occasion was held at the Serena Hotel and, in Lahore, at the Pearl Continental Hotel. A large number of VIP guests, including Arab diplomats, society figures and travel and aviation industry leaders attended each of the dinner and cocktail functions.

Commenting on the launch of operations, Peter Hill, Oman Air's Chief Executive Officer, said:

"I am very pleased to finally be able to open this route officially. Lahore and Islamabad represent our 36th and 37th destinations respectively, and Oman Air's second and third destinations in Pakistan, after Karachi.
