Oman Air Proceeds With Training Young Omani Cadres. 13 Traffic Assistants to Muscat International Airport

A further group of 13 young Omanis successfully completed their requisite training programme in the Ground Operations Department of Oman Air, and is now fully qualified to operate as Traffic Assistants at Muscat international Airport. This is the second batch of Ground Handling staff that is trained this year.
The company highlighted that Oman Air Training Center provides specialized training in all spheres of Airport Services as required. The well-equipped training centre conducts these courses by a highly experienced and qualified IATA approved professionals. Traffic Assistants they notified, undergo various mandatory training programmes that include Basic Passenger Handling, Customer Service, Check-In Procedures, Departure Control System, Dangerous Goods Regulations, Basic Ticket Reading, Geography, Fraudulent Documents, Check In and Airport Security Awareness. This is to ensure that the trainees are outfitted with proficiency, and eligible to carry out their responsibilities effectively and responsibly.
They further explained, that Ground Handling addresses the many service requirements of a passenger aircraft between the time it arrives at a terminal gate and the time it departs on its next flight. Speed, efficiency, and accuracy are the most important factors in Ground Handling services that helps minimise the turnaround. Oman Air is the sole service provider of Ground Handling for all the international and domestic flights at the Muscat International Airport as well as Salalah airport. It is very important to have well-trained personnel in Ground Handling to make sure that the efficiency of the airport is maintained, the company affirmed.
The young Omani trainees were also given practical hands on experience, which enabled them to carry out their responsibilities effectively and responsibly while handling the customers at Muscat International airport. The On-job training gears the young trainees to be familiar with the actual airport working environment, also the related scenarios and activities . they informed that the new trainees will be assigned to perform sectional duties in the Check-in Counters, Transfer Desk, Departure, MHL (Mishandled Luggage) and NOC (No Objection Counters).

It maybe noted that Muscat International Airport was in news recently as it came fourth (Best Airport by Region Category) in the Middle East with regard to its level of service quality, according to the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Survey, conducted by the industry body, Airports Council International (ACI).
