Oman Air Agents Award And Tenth Anniversary Celebrations At Chennai

Oman Air Chennai was established in 1997 with three weekly operations operating A310’s, which has grown to daily flights over these 10 years. In rewarding its Agents in the Regional Market of Chennai, Oman Air, distributed agent’s awards for the top productive agents for the years 2005 and 2006. In a colorful function held recently at the GRT Grand Hotel, Chennai, Oman Air Country Manager, Mohammed Bin Salim Al Balushi, distributed the awards.

In this regard, Mohammed Bin Salim Al Balushi said addressing the agents, “In the very near future, Oman Air will be expanding its operations to Frankfurt, Munich, Paris, Kula Lumpur, Singapore, beside other long haul destinations. He notified them that the national carrier of Oman has in fact commenced operations to London Gatwick on November 26 and to Bangkok on November 28, 2007. Mr. Mohammed Bin Salim Al Balushi-Country Manager-India, Mr. Nil Narula, Director -GSA- World Air Pvt. Ltd, and Mr. Stephen Srivatsan -DSM-MAA, attended the function.

DSM-MAA added Chennai International Airport was the first International Airport in India to get ISO-9001-2000 Certification. He notified that Chennai airport will witness developments that involve expansion of the secondary runway, expansion, and remodeling of domestic and international terminals and city-side development.

The new construction would allow the airport he said to handle an additional 4 million international and 10 million domestic passengers annually, thereby taking the annual handling capacity to 16 million domestic passengers and 7 million international passengers. The development work for Chennai airport is likely to be completed by June 2010

Commemorating 10 years of Chennai operations, Oman Air Chennai distributed one month’s supply of Rice, Cooking Oil, and Pulses to ZAMAR Orphanage who house Children who are abandoned by parents, no home, shelter and who are from broken parentage. DSM-MAA Mr. Stephen Srivatsan said that this Orphanage feeds these children three meals a day and the children are provided the best education to stand-up in society .This is a noble gesture on the part of Oman Air Chennai and will be continued every year

Corporate Communications And Media Department of Oman Air stated that Chennai had one of the first airports in India, and was the final destination of Air India's first flight from Bombay via Belgaum in 1954. It is the third largest international gateway into the country, the third busiest airport in India after Mumbai and Delhi. It is also an important cargo terminus for the country, second only to Mumbai. At present, Oman Air operates direct flights to eight destinations in India that is Mumbai, New Delhi, Kochi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, and Jaipur.
