Oman Air Appoints New Chief Sales Officer

Date: 7 September 2014 Oman Air has appointed Mahfood Ali Saleem Al Harthy to the new position of Chief Officer, Sales. Based at Oman Air’s headquarters in Muscat, Mr Al Harthy will report to Chief Operating Officer Abdulrahman Al Busaidy. Mahfood Al Harthy, an Omani citizen, joins Oman Air from Etihad Airways, where he held the position of General Manager – Oman, prior to which he was Managing Director of AFKAR Enterprises & Investment Co. LLC for three years.

Oman Air: Emergency Exercise Hailed A Success

Date: 3 September 2014 Oman Air held an ultra-realistic and highly successful full-scale emergency exercise in Muscat on Sunday 17th August, involving all the airline’s emergency facilities and teams, and observers have hailed it a major success. The exercise was coordinated from Oman Air’s state-of-the-art emergency response centre, tested every area of the airline’s operations and required participants to function in the capacities that would be expected of them in a real aircraft accident.

Oman Air Launches Flights To Manila And Jakarta

Oman Air Stops Flying Over Of Iraq

Date: 11 August 2014 As a precautionary measure, and in consideration of the ongoing conflict in the area, Oman Air confirmed that it has re-routed its flights to and from the airline’s home base of Muscat to avoid flying over Iraqi territory. As a result of Oman Air’s avoidance of Iraqi air space, passengers to and from European destinations and Beirut are advised that flight times may be slightly extended and they are advised to check with their local Oman Air offices to see whether their departure times have been affected. The move comes as a result of Oman Air’s continuous review of its flight paths and follows earlier confirmation that none of its flights have passed through Ukrainian air space since April 2014.
