Oman Air Awarded 'Friends Of Thailand' Award 2008

Date: 14 Oct 2008 Oman Air, the national carrier of Oman, has received a "Friends of Thailand" Award from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) during the sixth Thailand Tourism Awards. Oman Air, which flies to Bangkok from Muscat International Airport six times a week, received the award in the international airlines category. H.E. Weerasak Kowsurat, Tourism and Sports Minister of Thailand, presented the awards in a ceremony on September 27 at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre, Central World, Bangkok. Abdulrazaq Bin Juma Alraisi, Senior Manger Sales of Oman Air received the Award on behave of the carrier.

Oman Air Offering Live Satellite TV Onboard Long Haul Fleet

Date: 07 Oct 2008 Oman Air has selected Rockwell Collins' Tailwind 560 in-flight TV system for its fleet of seven Airbus A330s with delivery starting July 2009. The Tailwind 560 is the only proven and certified multi-region Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) airborne TV system available for the air transport market. The system will be available for live viewing both on the ground and at altitude; furthermore its multi-directional antenna will enable a continuous signal from Direct Broadcast Satellites, regardless of the aircraft's location or direction. With this system, Oman Air passengers will have the opportunity to access a selection of live TV programming across multiple regions, at 35,000 feet.
