Oman Air celebrates at WTM 2014

Date: 9 November 2014 Oman Air celebrated in style at this year’s World Travel Market starting from the 3rd until the 6th of November. The national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman shared with guests its unprecedented awards success over the last 12 months. And in a move aimed to reciprocate the airline’s success, Oman Air used the occasion of WTM to announce the winners of its own brand-new awards programme, the Oman Air Media Awards UK. Since last year’s highly successful participation in World Travel Market, Oman Air has scooped numerous international awards, been named in an array of magazine ‘Top 10’ lists and received praise from customers and travel trade representatives alike.

Oman Air’s Refurbished Bangkok Airport Lounge Opens its Doors

Date: 4 November 2014 Oman Air has unveiled its refurbished lounge at Suvarnabhumi Airport, in Bangkok. The expanded Oman Air Lounge offers even more facilities than its predecessor, within a significantly larger space. The interior design features a natural colour scheme, enhanced by soft lighting which also reflects the Oman Air corporate colours. Traditional Omani artefacts are showcased in bespoke cabinets hung from the walls, and contemporary sculptures provide an additional focus for the eye.

Oman Air Launches New Paper Recycling Programme

Date: 2 November 2014 Oman Air has expanded its corporate social responsibility programme to include dedicated newspaper and magazine recycling points within its headquarters, and at Muscat International Airport. The initiative is being run in partnership with Mzaya Al Batina Modern LLC, an Omani company run by young local entrepreneurs. It will see Oman Air-branded collection points being placed in the airline’s HQ1 and HQ2 buildings, before being extended to include Oman Air’s extensive operation at its home airport.

Oman Air Adds Business Class Service On Four Eastbound Routes

Date: 15 October 2014 Oman Air has announced plans to introduce Business Class cabins to four of its most popular eastbound routes. From 1st October, customers will be able to enjoy Oman Air’s comfortable, stylish and award-winning Business Class service on flights from the airline’s home base of Muscat to Calicut, Lucknow and Jaipur, in India, and to Chittagong, in Bangladesh.   Oman Air operates Boeing B737s on all routes to the sub-Continent and, in response to phenomenal demand, has previously offered only Economy Class cabins to Calicut, Lucknow, Jaipur and Chittagong.

Date: 12 October 2014 Oman Air’s mouth-watering First Class and Business Class inflight dining has been praised to the skies by readers of US-based luxury food magazine Saveur. The national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman has scooped the Readers’ Choice Award in the magazine’s annual Culinary Travel Awards, beating many of the biggest names in global air travel. Announcing the award, Saveur magazine said: “The traditional Arabic greeting of dates and coffee is just the beginning of a dining service that focuses on the essential details that make a difference at 40,000 feet. It certainly set the right mood for our readers, who selected Oman Air’s first and business class dining as their favorite in 2014.”

Oman Air Staff Benefit From Free Health Assessment Campaign

Date: 1 October 2014 Oman Air staff in Muscat have received free medical assessments, as part of the Airline’s drive to improve health awareness throughout the company. Attendance was outstanding and more than 100 eager employees participated. The assessments were organized by the Medical Welfare section of Oman Air’s Human Resources department and were delivered by Apollo Sugar. They included consultations with diabetes specialist, blood sugar and blood pressure checks, physical check-ups - including measurement of height, weight and BMI (body mass index) - and an awareness and education programme about the "Complications of Diabetes and how to delay the Complications".
