Oman Air had recently sponsored the open day of Marbat Willayat. The open day had been organized as Marbat came first through performing two folklore tableaus during the function of Salalah Khareef Festival 2006 that entitled it to triumph the Willayats heritage trophy. Mr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Amry, District Sales Manger in Salalah received the sponsorship plaque on behalf of Oman Air.

 

Mr. Ahmed Al Amry said, Dohfar is a region with lots of popular ethnicity reflecting the affection of Omanis with their land, nation and society. Oman Air, the national carrier of Oman has always shown concern in regard of participating in such junctures which are mainly conducted with the aim of preserving the heritage and supporting tourism in Oman too. Tourism has become of significance, and ought to be boosted up and developed due to its prominent role in supporting the growth and diversification of the national economy.

He also added, tourists and visitors of Salalah festival have always enjoyed the Omani folklore which reflects the culture and traditions of the different regions. Oman is well-known for its particular traditions, deep rooted culture and civilizations such as the popular arts and folklore. Since Dohfar is enriched with attractive natural beauty and magnificent geographical diversities, Oman Air is espousing numerous tourism strategies and programs to introduce the natural attractions of our beloved country to tourists. Also, tourism pamphlets brochures are arranged to highlight main tourisms spots in Oman for distribution to all our outstations.

 

He concluded saying, that the sponsorship of the open day by the national carrier is considered as an interpretation of the pioneer role played by the company to contribute in all efforts, aimed towards preserving traditional arts to maintain its components and value also up to the same level supporting the development of all tourisms areas. To achieve this target, Oman Air is allocating an annual sponsorship budget to such imperative occasions.

 

It is worth mentioning that the teams in which participated in the festival have performed adequately thus accorded special splendor on the festival’s atmosphere specially the folk dances ahead of the old house in the village. Rustaq Willayat achieved the second position, Rakhyuot and Sadah the third. Manah and Al Mazyona were the two distinguished regions that contributed in the Heritage competition during Khareef festival 2006 of which, Oman Air was the national carrier and one of the main sponsors.
