Wayne Pearce Oman Air has renewed its reservations technology agreement with Sabre Airline Solutions.

Oman Air Appoints Assistant Country Manager to UK Team

Oman Air has appointed Jamal Al Azki to the newly-created position of Assistant Country Manager for the UK and Ireland. He will be based at Oman Air’s UK office in Chiswick, London, and will report to Country Manager Rohan Alce.

Mr Al Azki was previously Oman Air’s District Sales Manager for the Sultanate of Oman, based in Muscat where he started his career in 2009.

Oman Air Selects Hamilton Sundstrand as the Maintenance Provider for the APS2300 Auxiliary Power Unit

Wayne Pearce Oman Air has selected Hamilton Sundstrand Power Systems for a long-term agreement to be the maintenance provider for the APS2300 Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) on its existing fleet of 5 Embraer 175 series aircraft. Hamilton Sundstrand is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

The APS2300 APU is currently on board more than 800 Embraer 170/190 aircraft around the world and is operated by more than 70 customers since its introduction into service in 2004.

Oman Air Certifies CFM56-7B Fleet for TRUEngine Program

Wayne Pearce Oman Air is the latest airline to become part of TRUEngine, qualifying all 33 CFM56-7B engines in its fleet for the program.

The TRUEngine designation serves as a method for identifying engines with CFM-approved content and facilitates product support of the engine system. Moreover, industry stakeholders can use the knowledge of engine content to evaluate engine value and re-marketability.

Wayne Pearce Oman Air will launch a new daily service between Muscat and the Iranian capital Tehran from 1st September 2012.

Flights will depart Muscat for Tehran at 0200 (3 days per week) and 0930 (4 days per week) and return from Tehran at 0610 (3 days per week) and 1240 (4 days per week) all times local, offering good connections to onward destinations within Oman Air’s network. Oman Air has been more successful over the first five months of 2012 than at any time in its history.

Between 1st January 2012 and 31st May 2012:

Net passenger revenue grew by 28%, compared to a full-year increase of 28% in 2011.
Passenger numbers grew by 19%, compared to a full-year increase of 16% in 2011.
Cargo revenue increased by 47%, compared to a full-year increase of 28% in 2011.
Cargo tonnage increased by 33%, compared to a full-year increase of13% in 2011.
