More Omani Cadres Join Oman Air

Oman Air, the national carrier of Oman recruited 313 Omanis in different fields of operation, during the first seven months of this year, bringing the number of the Omani staff to 2470 in the company, said Sheikh Ahmed Al-Nabhani, Senior Manager Human Resources.

He pointed out that the Omani candidates occupied the most of the positions in different departments of the company where in 82 candidates were appointed in the Commercial Division, 86 in Flight Operation Division, 108 in Service Delivery and about 11 in Human Resources and Administration. As per the approved plans more Omanis will be recruited in the near future. The job announcements will be made by the company at the appropriate time. Oman Air Appoints Brown As VP Commercial

Oman Air - the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman - has appointed Barry Brown as Vice President - Commercial effective 27 July, 2008. Brown brings over 30 years of professional experience to the role, with a comprehensive understanding ranging from operational process and quality control, commercial and marketing responsibility to general management and board level experience. Mr Brown will have responsibility for all passenger and cargo revenue generation, distribution, marketing and sales functions.

His last position was with SriLankan Airlines, where he held the post of Chief Commercial Officer. He has also held senior management roles with Qantas, American Airlines...

Oman Air continues to achieve new accomplishments in terms of passengers’ traffic. The airline within the first six month of 2008 has carried 965,459 passengers, an increase of 50 % compared to same period last year, which is considered yet as an unprecedented achievement since operation in 1993. The airline within the first six month of 2007 has carried 643,724 passengers, 601,161 Passenger in 2006 and 506,545 passenger in 2005 during the same period respectively.

In an effort to serve our customers better, Oman Air launched its web sales in July 2006. Ever since, this service has received an over whelming response as it allows a customer to purchase Oman Air ticket using internet and credit card at any time and anywhere.

Hamad Saif Hilal al Harthy, senior manager of reservations and global distribution of Oman Air stated, that it was then observed that some individuals opted to misuse this facility and make easy money by selling tickets to the public using credit cards which do not belong to them. By the time this practice was noticed, the airline had run into a few losses.
