Air Traffic At The Muscat International Airport

Air Traffic at the Muscat International Airport will be closed on 29th December between 1300 and 1700. Passengers who are traveling on flights during the above-mentioned timings "from and to Muscat" are requested to contact Oman Air offices, travel agents or call Oman Air Contact Centre in Muscat on (+968 - 2453 1111) to enquire about their flight timings.

Oman Air Appoints GM Customer Service

Oman Air has recently appointed David Thomas as General Manager - Customer Service. David joins from Emirates based in Dubai and brings with him significant experience gained within customer service roles in the aviation industry.

David has worked in senior capacities with leading airlines and aviation organisations based in the Gulf, UK, South Africa and Asia/Pacific regions.

Barry Brown, Vice President, Commercial of Oman Air, welcomed Thomas to the fold of Oman Air. Brown said - "It is my pleasure to welcome David to our management team. Oman Air To Fly To Heathrow

Commencing Thursday 15th January 2009, Oman Air will be starting its new service to London Heathrow Airport, providing the only daily, non-stop service between Muscat and London.

Flight WY 911 will depart from Muscat International Airport at 1255 hours and arrive London Heathrow Airport Terminal 3 at 1740 hours local time. The return flight WY 912 will depart London Heathrow Airport Terminal 3 at 2130 hours and arrive at Muscat International Airport at 0900 hours the following morning.

Ras Al Had - The New 737 To The Oman Air Fleet

Oman Air recently added another aircraft to its rapidly expanding fleet. The new Boeing 737 – 800 NG, named "Ras Al Had", arrived from Seattle, USA at Muscat International Airport on 21 December, 2008. This latest aircraft increases Oman Air’s B737 NG fleet to 11.

Peter Hill, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Air said that this latest addition is in line with Oman Air's plans to expand the company's network of short and medium haul flights within the Middle East and South Asia.

Oman Air Inaugurates Its State Of The Art Contact Centre

Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman has officially launched their new Contact Centre at Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) – the emerging IT Park of Oman.

The carrier has invested in “state of the art” technology providing a platform that will ensure their services standards are at the leading edge of airlines worldwide. Update 4: Oman Air Resumes Operations To Suvarnabhumi Airport In Thailand

After conducting a comprehensive security and infrastructure review of Suvarnabhumi Airport, Oman Air has concluded that it is the right time to resume full Bangkok operations, hence announces resumption of full operations to Bangkok effective Friday 5th December 2008, as per the regular flight schedule.

Oman Air Continues To Bring Home Stranded Passengers

Following advice from the Thai authorities in the wake of social unrest in Thailand, Oman Air has suspended flight operations to Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok. Meanwhile to enable the stranded passengers of Oman Air to reach home safely, Oman Air operated flights from the U-Tapao airport in Thailand.

The first flight from U-Tapao flew 196 stranded passengers from Thailand. The second flight (30th November) and the subsequent flight on the 1st of December also carried the same number of passengers, bringing the total number of stranded passengers carried by Oman Air back to the safety of home to over 600.

Update 3: Oman Air Continues Flights To U-TAPAO Airport In Thailand

Oman Air announces the operation of flight on Thursday, 4th of December from U-Tapao airport. Till date, Oman Air has operated three relief flights to U-Tapao Airport located south of Bangkok on 29th and 30th November and 1st December, bringing home over 600 stranded passengers.

Oman Air requests the patience of passengers during lengthy boarding procedures as the infrastructure is not designed to cope with large international passenger airline movements. The Thai authorities and airport staff have been very helpful in ensuring a smooth operation.

The Second Lot Of Fly Free To London Winners Announced

The second draw of the "Fly free to London campaign was held at the Oman Air Head office. The Chief Guest for the occasion was HE Sheik Mohamed bin Sakher Al Amri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications for Civil Aviation Affairs and Board Member.

Update 2: Oman Air Continues Flights To U-TAPAO Airport In Thailand

Oman Air flights from Thailand remain temporarily operating from U-Tapao airport in Thailand. The first flight from U-Tapao flew 196 stranded passengers from Thailand. The second flight (30th November) is also expected to carry the same number of passengers. There will be another flight operating from U-Tapao on the 1st of December as well.

Oman Air is closely monitoring the situation in Bangkok and is in constant contact with airport authorities in Bangkok, to resume operations to Suvarnabhumi airport as soon as possible. U-Tapao International Airport is a public airport approximately 140 km southeast of Bangkok.
