Oman Air Achieves Record Breaking Milestone

For the first time in it’s history, Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, carried over one million passengers within a year. From January to November, 2005 the airline carried a total of 1,025,729 passengers; a record breaking achievement. This compares with 894,192 passengers for the same period last year.

Mr. Ziad Karim Al Haremi, Oman Air’s Acting Chief Executive Officer said, “At the onset, I would like to thank our valuable customers for their patronage. Indeed, it is their continuous support and feedback that has enabled us to achieve this milestone. The fact that we were able to cross the one million mark in November when we had expected this to happen in December, is certainly very encouraging and is indicative of Oman Air’s popularity amongst the traveling public.”

Oman Air System Cutover in Kuwait

Network implemented in tie-up with National Aviation Services (NAS) Kuwait
using SITA CUTE platform.

Oman Air in Kuwait has implemented the use of its own departure control system called Airport Check-in System/International (ACSI).

The successful cutover means that Kuwait Airport is now connected directly to the full suite of passenger service systems.

The system gives customers an enhanced level of service and increased operational efficiency. It improvements the passenger check-in processing through new user friendly display screens and enhanced through check-in facilities, and electronic ticketing to onward destinations. Hence this will improve the total passenger experience on Oman Air.

The cutover was performed by an Oman Air team from Muscat and Kuwait and SITA.

Oman Air Hosts Staff Social Evening

The Ground Operation Department of Oman Air hosted a Staff Social Evening on September 24 at the Golden Tulip Hotel. The event, the first of its kind, was organized to recognise the valuable contributions of the staff. The event was graced by executive management who expressed their appreciation of the staff’s dedicated efforts in what turned out to be a fun-filled, informal gathering.

The Golden Tulip hotel set out a sumptuous spread while their resident band enthralled the crowd with their music and entertainment. Throughout the evening there were several raffle draws with over 65 exciting prizes up for grabs.

0man Air Orders its 6th B737 NG aircraft

Oman Air has finalized an order for a 6th B737NG jet aircraft with the Boeing Company. The new jet will be delivered to Oman Air during March 2005 for entry into commercial service in May 2005. This 6th B737NG aircraft will be deployed to expand Oman Air’s routes and support the network especially after addition of Bahrain, as well as Delhi and Hyderabad (subject to Indian Government approval). Additionally, frequency and capacity will be increased on routes to Mumbai, Kochi, Beirut and Colombo.

More Omani Graduates join Oman Air

In continuation of its efforts towards Omanisation and recruitment of more national graduates, Oman Air recently employed 9 University graduates in different areas of specialization. The first group consisting of 11 graduates were recruited in 2002. The graduates are inducted in an especially designed training program called the Management Training program where they are prepared to assume senior management positions in the future.

The program aims to enrich the trainees with information and experience in the field of aviation together with management skills. The duration of the program is 12 months, and is divided into 3 phases. The first phase comprises of theoretical training conducted in-house, the second is on-job training, and the 3rd phase is external training where the graduates are sent to external training institutes and to some of Oman Air’s offices in its network....

Airline Purchases Six Software Packages From Sabre to Upgrade Services

Sultanate’s national carrier, Oman Air will initiate a major technological makeover of its services with the implementation of six advanced software applications customized for the aviation sector, thereby reinforcing its commitment to provide the highest standard of service to air travelers.

The company has bought six software applications for a considerable $3 million, payable over a four-year period from Sabre Holding. The six systems purchased are for revenue management, introduction of frequent flyer programme, internet booking, electronic ticketing, and automated scheduling as well as sophisticated planning system. Oman Air Launches New In-flight Experience

Commencing from 1st March 2005 Oman Air will take a step further in its product and service enhancement strategy by the introduction of a “new design” range of catering service equipments within its fleet.

Oman Air Inaugurates Services to Bahrain

Oman Air is pleased to announce the inauguration of its first scheduled flight to Bahrain, the “Pearl of the Arabian Gulf” on 12/4/2004. This will increase the number of Oman Air destinations to 20, since the launch of the first Oman Air flight to Salalah on 15/3/1993.
