Oman Air's successful participation In the Arabian Travel Market 2006

Oman Air has participated in the 13th Arabian Travel Market (ATM) held in Dubai during the period from 2 - 5 May 2006. The ATM, one of the biggest tourism and travel exhibitions, has achieved remarkable growth with relation to the number of visitors participating from different parts of the world, in which provide evidence, of its prestigious status world wide. This year's assembly witnessed significant new activities, and the signing of numerous imperative deals up to the last day.

OMAN AIR starts summer schedule

As of 01st May, 2006, Oman Air commences its summer schedule with an increase in the number of flights to various WY destinations in the Middle East.  Daily flights will be operated to Beirut, Bahrain and Doha, while Cairo and Kuwait will see an increase of 5 and 14 weekly flights, respectively. In addition, DXB has increased to 44 weekly flights from 27 weekly flights making the total departures out of Muscat up to 124 flights per week. 

Commenting on these increases, Mr. Abdulrazaq Alraisi, Senior Manager Sales, stated that Oman Air is trying to make this summer another exceptional season in order to cater to the increasing number of passenger traffic to and from Oman.

Oman Air Participates at the Arabian Travel Market 2006

Oman Air, the national carrier of Oman, will participate at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) to be held n Dubai from 02 – 05 May 2006. Oman Air hosts the Gulf Flight Safety Committee

Recently, Oman Air has hosted the Gulf Flight Safety Committee meeting held at Grand Hyatt Muscat. Representatives on Safety issues from various Airlines at GCC Countries such as Gulf Air, Emirates , Etihad, Saudi Arabian Airlines and other Aviation Organizations such as ECA Cargo, Embrair, Sikorsky and others Participated, and delivered their presentations throughout the meeting.

Oman Air gains momentum on Omanisation

Under the guidance of His Majesty the Sultan’s directives to give Omani youth adequate opportunities focusing on recruitment and training, Oman Air has taken significant initiatives towards achieving this objective. The company has announced that it employed 88 Omani Cadre during the first quarter of 2006.

Mr. Ahmed Al Nabhani, Senior Manager Human Resources said, “The Company has approved a plan to motivate and enhance Omanisation during the year 2006 to maintain this momentum, as well as to maintain the distinguished achievement accomplished among other private sector companies in nationalising positions locally, and regionally. After successfully obtaining the IATA's license as an approved training centre. Oman Air, is now introducing IATA approved Diplomas, to meet the increasing demand and growth within the tourism sector.

Oman Air – leader of e-ticketing in the region

Oman Air has achieved the highest level of e-ticketing market penetration among all Middle Eastern airlines, according to recent statistics released by IATA. As of end Feb. 2006, 15.3% of Oman Air’s passengers used e-tickets. In comparison, Market penetration for Middle Eastern airlines for the same period was 4.7% and 47.4% was the global percentage.

Oman Air innovates IT team with Advanced J2EE technology

Oman Air has taken a new initiative in the area of IT Training, by bringing the eminent Java technology consultant Mr. Srinivasan from Vamsoft India, to enhance the in-house IT team “know-how”, on the latest J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) technology. Oman Air has been developing applications on J2EE for the last two years, and all new IT developments are being now, based on the open source architecture of Java and Linux. New procured systems from various solution providers such as Sabre, are also based on these technologies. Oman Air has contributed as a sponsor to the ceremony held to honor Omani women. His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, heritage and culture minister, presided over the ceremony held at Al Bustan Palace Hotel.
